Twice a year, my favorite local ice cream shop - Sweet Dreams - hosts Chocolate Night.  They offer a bazillion variety of chocolate ice cream... it's wonderful.  They even have live music.  There's also a mystery flavor every year - I guessed correctly two times in a row!  The best one was Chocolate Cardamom (which I think should be a regular flavor!), one of the stranger mystery flavors was Chocolate Mustard Seed.

Events happen in the spring (usually April) and fall (usually October).  Chocolate night goes all day, and plan for a little extra time because there is usually a line out the door all day long!  Check out Sweet Dreams' Facebook page to stay up-to-date with all of the happenings.

P.S. - They make all of their waffle cones from scratch, too!

I attended the beer and cheese tasting at Citizens Co-op this past Friday... it was awesome!  You get beer from local breweries and cheese from local artisan cheese makers.  On top of that, there is music from some great performers.  In addition, they had a travelling photo exhibit that focuses on a sustainable food supply.  All in all, a really good evening!  When I get the names of the performers, I'll add their information in the comments of this post. :)

Beer from:

Swamp Head Brewery (in Gainesville)

Tall Paul's Brewhouse (in Gainesville)

Cigar City Brewery (in Tampa)

Cheese from:

Sweetgrass Dairy (in Thomasville, GA - they have a fantastic beer, wine and cheese store in downtown Thomasville and you can visit the farm and meet the baby goats!  It's a great trip if you've got a free day!)

Cypress Point Creamery (in Hawthorne)

Wainwright Dairy (in Live Oak)

Wanna see some awesome produce you can get at the Co-op?  Right here, baby.

I organized this shoot for some of my favorite local businesses.  It was great to get to know the folks behind these businesses and give them some lovely photos for free.  :)

Check them out and show our local businesses some love!
