Twice a year, my favorite local ice cream shop - Sweet Dreams - hosts Chocolate Night.  They offer a bazillion variety of chocolate ice cream... it's wonderful.  They even have live music.  There's also a mystery flavor every year - I guessed correctly two times in a row!  The best one was Chocolate Cardamom (which I think should be a regular flavor!), one of the stranger mystery flavors was Chocolate Mustard Seed.

Events happen in the spring (usually April) and fall (usually October).  Chocolate night goes all day, and plan for a little extra time because there is usually a line out the door all day long!  Check out Sweet Dreams' Facebook page to stay up-to-date with all of the happenings.

P.S. - They make all of their waffle cones from scratch, too!

It's that time again!  Book in early to reserve your mini session appointment and check photography off your list before the holidays are in full swing :)

FAQs:

Are you going to have reindeer antler headbands, hay bails, pumpkins, plastic snowmen, or other seasonal props?

Heck no.  That's not how I operate.  I'm interested in telling the story of YOU, and to me generic props don't facilitate that process.  If, however, you just feel like there can never be enough snowflake confetti in the world and you absolutely need to have some because you're known for impromptu snowflake confetti battles for the entire month of December, then for heaven's sake, bring it!  Because that's part of who you are. :)

What should we wear?

I am a strong believer in wearing what you feel is representative of you.  Most of my clients tend to wear a cute dress or jeans and a nice shirt.  Think about colors that complement each other, and if you think that you might like to purchase some artwork for your home, also consider the colors in the space where you plan to hang it.  Layers (or lack thereof) are a great tool for implying seasonality, so if you'd like your photos to feel more autumnal, add a light jacket with a pretty scarf.

Rumor has it that you don't normally photograph families, what about for the mini sessions?

That is correct, children and families are not part of my normal repertoire, but I'm happy to work with families for these mini sessions.  :)

Can I bring the dog?

Absolutely!  I'd love it if you did.

What is a premier?

After the session, I'll invite you into my home to view your photos for the first time.  We'll have some wine and cheese, have a seat on the couch, and look through the photos.  All the photos you'll see will be edted.  From those photos, we'll create a favorites folder and start to make decisions about artwork, gift prints, holiday cards, and the five photos that you'd like to take home with you in digital format while sipping a nice malbec and listening to some Frank Sinatra in the background.

Dude.  I'm in.  How do we book?

Awesome.  Step one is call me (352-256-6842).  We'll set up time for your session and the photo premier appointment for the following week, and then you'll place a 50% retainer to hold your session time.  After that, I'll send over some paperwork to give you all the information you'll need for the session and a brief questionnaire so I can get to know you a little bit.  We'll touch base on the Thursday before the session to make sure that we’re all set to go for your session!

Lorrie and Victor - Where do I even start?  They are the sweetest.  These two were truly a pleasure to work with and their beautiful winter wedding was so much fun to be a part of.  Take a look and let me know what you think!

I met Kate in a shoot-and-critique community class a few years ago.  We've become good friends since then, and I've been so happy to get to know her partner, Katie.  These two balance each other so well.  Kate is always thinking and planning, and as a result she is one of the best sources for advice I know. Katie is the perfect combination of softness and lightness to balance her out.  They have been through a lot together and have continued to help each other grow stronger.  It was such an honor to photograph them ahead of the birth of their son, Calvin.  He has just arrived and the family is doing great. :)

Ah... Kasey and Arthur's wedding.  It was at one of my favorite venues - Prairie Creek Lodge at the Alachua Conservation Trust.  Kasey did a fantastic job with the styling and she looked AMAZING in her vintage gown. It was a beautiful day and a fantastic party.  I feel so honored to have been a part of it!
